Job purpose, tasks and responsibilities

Our Product Manager is responsible for shaping the strategy, performance and evolution of Mercia's methodology, compliance and advisory product portfolio. Working closely with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams, you'll ensure our products remain commercially successful, aligned to customer needs and responsive to regulatory change, while identifying opportunities to enhance customer value through innovation, AI and emerging technologies.

You'll be responsible for:
  • Define and deliver the product strategy and roadmap for Mercia's methodology and advisory portfolio.
  • Own products throughout their lifecycle, from concept and launch to ongoing improvement and optimisation.
  • Use customer insight, market trends and regulatory developments to shape product direction.
  • Explore opportunities to leverage AI, automation and emerging technologies to enhance customer value.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, subject matter experts and technology partners to bring ideas to life.
  • Monitor product performance and identify opportunities to drive growth, engagement and retention.
  • Support pricing, proposition development and go-to-market activity.

What's the Best Thing About This Role?

You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of a well-established portfolio that's trusted by accountancy firms across the UK, while helping shape its future direction. Working with our subject matter experts, you'll influence everything from product strategy and pricing through to software partnerships and innovation, ensuring our methodology and advisory products continue to evolve with customer needs.

You'll also have the chance to play a key role in exploring how AI and emerging technologies can enhance our products and customer experience.

What’s the Most Challenging Thing About This Role?

You'll be balancing technical accuracy, regulatory change, customer needs and commercial performance across a portfolio of products and services. You'll need to quickly build a deep understanding of our methodology and offering and identify where there are opportunities for improvement.

In this role, you'll help define what great product management looks like at Mercia. You'll be expected to bring structure, strategic thinking and a continuous improvement mindset, helping us strengthen product management, evaluate new opportunities and maximise the value of a portfolio that is critical to our customers and our growth.
