Why do we want you?

Mercia Group, part of Wilmington plc, is one of the UK's leading providers of training, compliance and marketing support to accountancy firms. As our portfolio continues to grow, we're looking for someone with experience in proposition management, product management or portfolio management to help us identify how our products and services can better work together, uncover new market opportunities, and create even greater value for our clients.

In this role, you'll combine customer insight, market intelligence and commercial thinking to develop compelling offers, packages and propositions for our clients. You'll enjoy analysing customer needs, market trends and competitor activity, using evidence and insight to identify opportunities and shape solutions that drive growth. Working across the business, you'll play a key role in evolving our portfolio and bringing customer-focused propositions to market.

If you're commercially minded and motivated by creating solutions that deliver genuine value, we'd love to hear from you!

Please note: To complete your application, you will be redirected to Wilmington plc’s career site.

At Wilmington plc, we celebrate individuality and are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace. As a Disability Confident employer, we shortlist all applicants who meet the essential role criteria and guarantee an interview for candidates with disabilities who meet these criteria. For reasonable adjustments or to apply under our interview guarantee scheme, please use the contact details provided once you have clicked “apply”!

Job purpose, tasks and responsibilities

As our Product Proposition Manager, you'll be developing customer-focused propositions, offers and packages that bring together products and services across the portfolio. Working closely with Product, Sales, Marketing and Customer Success teams, you'll create compelling solutions that drive customer growth, retention and commercial success.

You’ll be responsible for:

Shaping Propositions

  • Developing propositions, offers and packages for different customer segments.
  • Identifying opportunities to combine products and services that deliver greater customer value.
  • Defining clear customer value propositions and market differentiation.

Portfolio Growth

  • Designing and managing product bundles, packages and commercial models.
  • Creating pathways that support customer growth, retention and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Reviewing proposition performance and driving continuous improvement.

Market Knowledge

  • Building insight into customer needs, behaviours and challenges.
  • Analysing competitor activity, market trends and growth opportunities.
  • Using data and insight to inform proposition strategy and development.

Product Collaboration

  • Partnering with Product Managers to understand product capabilities and roadmaps.
  • Turning product features into compelling customer propositions.
  • Aligning teams around portfolio and proposition objectives.

Supporting Commercial Performance

  • Supporting pricing, packaging and commercial decision-making.
  • Tracking proposition success and recommend improvements.
  • Using customer feedback and market insight to inform future opportunities.

Go-to-Market Activity

  • Leading the launch of new propositions and package enhancements.
  • Developing proposition messaging and value narratives.
  • Equipping Sales and Marketing teams with clear positioning and supporting materials.

What's the Best Thing About This Role?

You'll have the opportunity to shape something that's still being built. Rather than inheriting an established proposition framework, you'll have the freedom to identify opportunities and bring forward new ideas, helping us develop offerings that stand out in an increasingly competitive market.

What’s the Most Challenging Thing About This Role?

Mercia has a strong portfolio of products and services, but we haven't traditionally packaged or bundled them in a strategic way. You'll be responsible for helping us identify what the market wants, where the opportunities lie, and how we can bring our offerings together to create more value for customers.

Essential and desirable capabilities

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Experience in product management, proposition management, portfolio management or commercial product roles.
  • Strong understanding of product strategy and customer value propositions.
  • Experience developing customer-focused offers, packages or service propositions.
  • Ability to influence and work effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical capability.
  • Experience using customer insights and data to drive decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

To be successful in this role, it would be great if you have:

  • Experience in professional services, compliance, training, software or information services sectors.
  • Experience managing product portfolios rather than individual products.
  • Knowledge of segmentation, pricing and packaging strategies.
  • Experience supporting go-to-market activities.

We know it’s not a skill, but the successful candidate must have permission to work in the role’s location by the start of their employment.
