Job purpose, tasks and responsibilities

You will be responsible for:
  • Line managing a team of four full-time journalists and five freelance contributors. 
  • Ensuring we maintain a high standard of journalism, that our content is high value for customers, and is well read and regarded.
  • Tracking, understanding and increasing customer engagement in our content, and using that insight to develop and expand production of content that informs customer decision making.
  • Leading, engaging and extracting value from the Compliance Week Advisory board, comprising of senior practicing compliance professionals.
  • Developing a commercially viable, strategic-growth plan to secure board investment, and then recruiting and expanding the team internationally.
  • Establishing a robust product development pipeline to support double digit revenue growth.
  • Working with an offshore data research team, and the UK technology team, to direct data gathering and enhancement for our new data services.
  • Supporting the events team to create/develop industry leading conference programmes in the US and Europe, including opening, chairing panels and working with speakers.
  • Supporting the commercial sales team with ideas for bespoke webinars, surveys, e-books and other content that can be sponsored by our commercial partners.

 

What is the best thing about this role? 

This is a brand new role that has opened up due to internal promotion and brings huge opportunities with it! This is a strategic role where you will be supporting us transition from an advertising-based revenue model, to a predominantly subscription-based revenue model. You'll also be joining us ahead of our new data product launch, around which we intend to produce journalistic insight and unique content. 

 

What is the most challenging thing about this role? 

This role comes with a lot of responsibility and you will be involved in multiple projects as we look to launch new products and further grow Compliance Week. You'll need to bring a lot of expertise into this role to achieve these tasks.

Essential and desirable capabilities

To be successful in this role, you must have:
  • A strong background in B2B journalism and editorial production. 
  • Line management experience in a journalism or editorial role.
  • Experience collaborating with commercial sales and marketing teams. 
It would be great if you also have:
  • Demonstrable market sector knowledge including; corporate governance, financial sector, compliance, legal sector, government/ policy, ESG, data protection, fin-crime and other similar topic areas.  
  • Experience working with international news. 
  • Experience developing/ innovating/ supporting new products, services and content.
