Job purpose, tasks and responsibilities

Reporting to our Managing Director as a part of Axco’s senior leadership team, our Director of Data and Operations is an autonomous role with full accountability for the content and data functions within the business.  

 

Axco’s value proposition is underpinned by a unique and wide-ranging collection of content that is delivered through a range of products and services. The Director of Data and Operations is responsible for ensuring that the business continues to provide market leading content in the most efficient and effective way possible, supporting Axco’s growth. This individual will be required to develop and execute a strategy in collaboration with our Product and Technology teams to achieve this objective.

 

Responsibilities of this role include, but aren't limited to:

 

  • Ensuring AXCO’s data offering delivers for our clients and remains ahead of the competition by:
    • Developing a deep understanding of internal and external stakeholder needs, as well as our products, tools and use cases.
    • Owning the roadmap for the content portfolio, covering both technology and non-technology elements, and working in partnership with the Product and Technology teams to prioritise the overall development backlog.
    • Taking responsibility for AXCO’s data and content strategy; including developing new data sets either organically or via partnership or acquisition.
    • Staying up to date with emerging technologies and content trends, exploring innovative ways to enhance the content delivery and user experience.
  • Ensuring that AXCO’s content and data operations are world class by:
    • Owning AXCO’s operating model, strategy, and tactical plans for the content team
      Managing and reviewing external outsourced providers of information, data, and services to achieve optimal inputs and outputs.
    • Challenging the status quo, identifying new and more efficient ways to maintain and develop the product offering ensuring the business USP’s are maintained in the most efficient way. 
  • Drive consistently high performance across a diverse team by:
    • Continuing to develop the content leadership team through structured development plans, coaching, and mentoring.
    • Leading by example, role-modelling what high performance looks like by challenging the status quo and continually raising the bar.
    • Supporting strong employee engagement throughout the team by engaging with company-wide initiatives and working with team leaders on Content specific actions.

Essential and desirable capabilities

You will also need the following essentials:

  • A track record of successful operational management in a complex B2B or B2B2C environment, preferably in a subscription business.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and growing a diverse team.
  • Experience in data integration and collection system design working with Agile development teams.
  • Excellent presentation skills and clear communicator, comfortable presenting at senior, external and all-company level
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience of defining and delivering new content and data to meet evolving client needs.
  • Experience delivering significant process improvements and developing a continuous improvement mindset in the team.
  • Experience of working in a matrix environment with the ability to influence and initiate change.
  • Solid understanding of JIRA to manage projects and development backlogs.
