Job purpose, tasks and responsibilities

As a Delegate Sales Business Development Representative you will be responsible for promoting our fantastic industry recognised live and digital events/conferences directly to potential customers, utilizing best practice sales techniques to convey our value proposition and “close” sales.

For the right person with the right attitude, this is a fantastic opportunity to kick-start your sales career.  Outreach is via telephone conversations and personal emails complete with pertinent content and selling messages, so you'll need to be a confident, competent communicator both written and verbal. 


You’ll have ownership of specific conferences/events with the responsibility for delivering the established number of delegates or quota per conference.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Conducting outbound phone calls per established daily/weekly quotas
  • Following up with marketing generated leads via email outreach and telephone calls
  • Qualifying inbound leads & converting into registrations
  • Handling objections and presenting value in a clear and concise manner
  • Building rapport with corporate partnerships to generate groups of conference attendees
  • Identifying influencers within top organizations and cold calling
  • Managing a sales pipeline using Salesforce for visibility
  • Fielding customer service questions from conference attendees
  • Answering inbound phone calls and live chat
  • Exceeding personal quotas and conference goals
  • Providing internal market feedback to the team clearly and effectively

Essential and desirable capabilities

We always support colleagues to develop their skills but to be successful in this job you really do need to already be able to tick most of these boxes...


We know it’s not a skill, but the successful candidate must have permission to work in the role’s location by the start of their employment.


You will also need;


  • Experience working in a B2B telephone sales environment
  • Bachelors Degree or relevant work experience
  • Results oriented, competitive self-starter
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone skills with experience closing sales via telephone
  • Sales trained with knowledge of best practices for telesales
  • Persuasive communicator, verbally and written
  • CRM system experience is desirable
  • Delegate sales experience would be an advantage
