    Closing Date:  *24th November 2018

Wilmington Healthcare is an unrivalled, single healthcare data, education and information resource with outstanding analytics capabilities. We provide our clients with market leading insight into local health economies, complemented by increased access to senior health stakeholders and the wider NHS which results in effective and actionable insights.

Wilmington Healthcare comprises Wellards, Binley’s NHiS and HSJ.

    Main Purpose of Role

    Why do we want you?

We want you because you have superior Excel skills, including writing macros and transformation of data and you love building bespoke dashboards in Tableau, or a similar BI tool along with using your excellent skills in SSMS for data manipulation/cleaning, relational databases and simple forms.

Your experienced in manipulating and analysing large numerical and text-based data sets and transforming them into standardised, user friendly format, have strong knowledge of common statistical methods and are keen to develop initiatives for providing more efficient bespoke tools in Excel and Tableau.

We know that most analyst roles tend to be more back office than this one so if you're looking for something that will really allow yout to get involved, this could well tick your boxes.

    What will you be doing?

As a Senior Healthcare Data Analyst at Wilmington Healthcare (WC) you will cover a wide range of analytical activity to provide high quality insight and information reporting to a variety of clients.

You will provide support to the analytical team and assist in the planning and allocation of tasks as well as taking a lead role in liaising with clients and senior management staff within WHC to establish user requirements as well as deliver quality projects efficiently and on time.

You will need to be an experienced analyst who has extensive experience in importing, cleaning, transforming, validating or modelling healthcare data with the purpose of understanding or making inferences for decision or management purposes and you'll need to be confident and competent when it comes to presenting data in charts, tables or written reports, and designing information solutions such as dashboards to present data to healthcare data users.

You will use Business intelligence and Tableau and you will attend regular production meetings and contribute to the development of innovative and exciting analytical products for our clients.

Our Senior Healthcare Data Analysts have expertise in understanding the secondary datasets that are used predominantly within this role, including HES (Hospital Episode Statistics), QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework) and prescribing data so it would be helpful if you have already had some exposure in those areas.  We are, however, willing to train someone new to the industry if the right competencies are demonstrated.

A keen interest in personal continuous improvement is paramount in this role as you'll need to keep up-to-date with new healthcare datasets as and when they become available and develop a clear understanding of the methodology behind them.

It is expected that you will provide a ‘directing’ role in supporting other analysts in the team by managing projects and delivery, as well as training and knowledge dissemination.

The Senior Healthcare Data Analyst will have the following responsibilities:

    • Take the lead in the development of new products and tools
    • Participate in the development of analytical reports, including conducting analysis, summarising data and interpretation of results
    • Provide consultative support and responses to requests for information from internal and external clients

    • Assist with planning and scheduling jobs
    • Provide project management over other analysts in the team on individual projects where required
    • Coach and mentor other less experienced members of the analyst team
    • Work to maintain and improve peer review and quality assurance processes
