Job Role:  Research & Development Manager

Location: Sunny Sutton Coldfield (just outside Birmingham)

This role is available for local candidates already authorised to work in the role’s country only.

International Compliance Training (ICT is part of Wilmington Plc) deliver training worldwide leading to the award of ICA's professional qualifications in governance, risk and compliance, anti money laundering and financial crime prevention.

These are exciting times to join ICT as we are in a period of change and growth and as such we are looking to add to our Research and Development Team.

    Why do we want you?

International Compliance Training is growing. Really growing. We have a terrific proposition, tremendous customer base and work in a dynamic (and interesting) environment, where the profile of the compliance professional has never been greater. The Research and Development (R&D) team is central to our plans. To support our growth strategy, we need to create the right content for the right people at the right time and via the right channel. We are looking for more amazing colleagues to join our team and come with us on the next stage of our journey.

Are you looking for a job in Compliance with a difference and would you answer 'yes' to any of the following questions?

    • Are you ready to make the switch out of the regulated environment?
    • Do you like to learn?
    • Would you like to research, design and build something that has a genuine impact?

If yes to any of those, read on.

    Main Purpose of Role

    • Creating engaging and meaningful content covering regulatory and financial crime compliance! Essentially, you’ll be further enhancing the ICA content proposition, our expertise and our learning solutions - which are already supporting our global compliance community
    • Working on new and existing ICA qualifications, bespoke business-to-business learning solutions, social marketing content and much much more…
    • Developing amazing relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to provide all our customers with a first-class content experience, regardless of channel of delivery, topic or geography. And to attract customers we’ve not yet met.

Quick note: We recognise that ‘content’ has all sorts of meanings. In our R&D team, it mostly means blogs, infographics, Prezi, podcasts, CPD articles, magazine pieces, eLearning, powerpoint slides, facilitator guides, case studies, exercises, study manuals, learner workbooks and assessments…

    Skills and Experience Required

We always support colleagues to develop their skills but to be successful in this job you really do need to already be able to tick most of these boxes...

We know it’s not a skill, but the successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK by the start of their employment

    • Demonstrate experience in - and a passion for - our subject matter. Our customers (and their needs) vary in terms of the solutions they require and the content we create. You don’t need to know everything about compliance, ethics, culture, regulatory frameworks, anti-money laundering, Customer Due Diligence/Know Your Customer, sanctions, bribery and corruption or fraud – but ideally you will know something about most of them (or specialise in one). The rest we can help you learn about.
    • Have some experience of writing learning materials or content in these areas. It could be from your own interest, processes or procedures or training material – the more creative the better
    • Working in the compliance environment – first line of defence, second line of defence, small or large organisations, regulatory or financial crime. We don’t mind too much as long as you can understand our customers and the risks they face – and how that drives us to support them.

You need to be this kind of person who…

    • Is passionate about financial crime and regulatory compliance
    • Loves to learn – both knowledge and skills
    • Is a creative question-asker and a solution-finder
    • Is able to work in a fast paced, fun and progressive environment
    • Enjoys a challenge – we work hard, and it can be a steep learning curve

    Before you go...
Thanks for reading our job advert. We’ve tried to bring to life what it’s like working as part of the R&D team at ICT. But we do so much (from a single tweet to a global training program) that it’s tough to distil into a single page. We also recognise that sometimes candidates can be put off applying for a job unless they think they match every requirement. Don’t let that hold you back. If you are excited about the role and think you can do much of what we have described but aren’t sure if you are quite who we’re looking for… give it a try. Nothing ventured nothing gained!

    Come join us!
