    Main Purpose of Role

    The primary purpose of this role is to identify and develop new business opportunities, leads and relationships with clients across the following areas of the portfolio:


    • Engagement Services - CRM data and data solutions, Multichannel Marketing services
    • Education and Collaboration Services – online education, Events and webinars
    • Analytics & Insights Services – Specialist Share Data, Trackers, Bespoke analytics
    • Planning, Resourcing and Optimisation Services – Therapy Hubs, Research, Medicines Management
    • NHS Collaboration – Commissioning Excellence, Service Redesign, Disease Insight Reports, Network Meetings, Quantis Portfolio

    You will be developing new business opportunities within the SME (Small to Medium Enterprise) client base that will include: Pharmaceutical companies, Generic companies, Bio-tech companies, Agencies, and third parties


    Your objectives include:

    • Expanding the reach of the above services throughout the client base.  This involves working with multiple stakeholders including: Marketing, Brand/Product teams, Market access, commercial and sales managers and Learning and Development teams.
    • Identify client’s needs, and ensure alignment of each services to the client’s sales and marketing activities throughout the life cycle.
    • Develop full understanding of the product portfolio in order so successfully meet clients needs,
    • Commercial responsibility for identifying and developing a pipeline of opportunities in new and existing clients by:
      • Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients.
      • Closing business to meet monthly and quarterly business targets.
      • Identify new clients via networking and desktop research to new and evolving companies
    • Achieving sales targets and activity key performance indicators (KPI’s) as set by the Business Development Director
    • Take ownership of quarterly and annual business plans; responsible for accurate business forecasting.
    • Work closely with the client services, project management teams and other internal stakeholders to plan and manage projects from inception to closure.   Procure appropriate internal and external resources to deliver client projects to the highest possible standards of quality and timeliness, commensurate with clients’ needs and budgets.
    • Contribute to new product development through knowledge of clients need and feedback.  Implement processes to meet client demand and objectives, and overcome any client issues and concerns.
    • Support the Marketing teams in the development of campaign materials.
    • Work with agencies in a consultative role to develop and deliver joint client pitches that showcase the breadth and diversity of the Wilmington Healthcare services and capabilities
    • Identify and attend key industry conferences and events as required, to create and drive awareness of WHC services.

    Skills and Experience Required


    • Educated to Degree level or equivalent standard (Required)
    • BHBIA Certification in AER and L&E Framework.


    • Proven track record of selling and successfully developing and growing business.
    • Experience approaching and selling to new clients.
    • Working within the pharma/healthcare sector or agency environment selling to these sectors within the UK.
    • Marketing and brand planning


    • Knowledge of the UK health care structure and impact of current changes on the healthcare industry.
    • Knowledge of the life sciences industry and their sales and marketing techniques, requirements and budgeting and planning cycles
    • Excellent knowledge of the regulatory requirements and limitations of healthcare research as governed by the MRS, BHBIA, ABPI, ESOMAR etc

    Additional desirable qualifications:

    • ABPI, Wellards Diploma, Science Degree/Market Research Degree/MRS Diploma in Market & Social Research
