Main Purpose of Role

To manage the strategy and implementation of all marketing campaigns for training & events across CLT to achieve budgeted revenues.




Planning & Analysis


  • Work with the senior leadership team to build the marketing strategy for CLT training courses and events in line with the business objectives
  • Work with the senior leadership team to develop a CLT membership marketing strategy
  • Undertake market research (competitor research, face to face, surveys) to understand customer needs
  • Analyse customer data to understand buying trends and identify key segments to target
  • Get a detailed understanding of CLT and implement best practice from both businesses across all campaigns
  • Ensure the marketing strategy maximises cross promotion of CLT events to the benefit of both organisations


  • Lead the team to ensure marketing campaigns are implemented efficiently to meet revenue targets within budgeted costs to tight deadlines
  • Manage the budgets to carry out all digital, print and events marketing activities
  • Work collaboratively with the product owners and events project teams to ensure all marketing activities feed into events campaigns in an efficient manner
  • Take responsibility for the implementation of specific campaigns
  • Manage the day to day activities and personal development of the Marketing Executives
  • Lead by example to establish and maintain an agile, high performance environment that gets results




  • Develop a reporting process to give visibility on forward events bookings and any other marketing activity
  • Report weekly on marketing activity, revenue and spend
  • Work with the Marketing Executives to build monthly KPI reports for each business area – to be updated and shared with the project team and senior management
  • Other reports as and when required


New Initiatives


  • Gain a good understanding of the automated systems and processes used to promote CLT events and implement changes where necessary to create the optimum balance of automation and manual intervention to maximise delegate sales
  • Work as part of a project team for CLT to ensure a smooth transition from their existing database to Salesforce
  • Work as part of the web development team on specific projects, leading on design, SEO and user experience


Other duties as and when required.

    • Achievement of quarterly delegate sales targets
    • Increased understanding of the needs of our key customer segments
    • Increased engagement with CLT members and gatekeepers
    • Increased engagement with relevant associations / organisations to raise brand profile
  • Increased awareness of CLT brands
  • Increased conversions through marketing automation - leads and delegates sales
  • Increased conversions through content marketing – leads and delegate sales
  • Increased traffic to key websites
  • Increased cross-promotion across CLT
  • Increase in positive feedback from senior management on reporting and visibility




Skills and Experience Required


The person in this role:


This is a great opportunity for a commercial, hands on marketing professional who thinks on their feet and wants to make an impact through implementing new strategies. The successful candidate will be target driven, analytical and creative, and have a can do attitude.


The skills required:


  • At least 3 years’ experience of marketing B2B training and events
  • At least 3 years’ experience of managing marketing staff
  • Excellent planning and reporting skills
  • Working knowledge of e-mail marketing platforms (e.g. Exact Target) and marketing automation
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills (with both internal and external stakeholders)
  • Good attention to detail
  • Highly organised
  • Educated to degree-level or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the legal market an advantage
  • IDM/CIM or other marketing qualification an advantage
