Main Purpose of Role

The purpose of the C# developer is work within the software development function to design and deliver technical solutions and company websites, meeting the requirements of agreed specifications. To write, debug and test code in order to deliver such solutions. To write technical and functional documentation as necessary.

 

The role requires the candidate to provide support for web systems; develop and improve existing solutions and websites; and handle technical enquiries. Every member of the team is expected to contribute to practices and standards used within the team and suggest improvements as necessary.

 

You will be required to work with a degree of autonomy taking responsibility for your work which appropriate guidance from a team leader. You will also be a good team player as some projects will require you to work collaboratively with other developers on the team, as well as other internal or external stakeholders.

 

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • To work under the guidance of the Web Development Team leader
  • Work on multiple development projects simultaneously with a degree of independence.
  • Liaise with project managers and product owners to keep them appraised of project progress.
  • Maintain relevant technical documentation including code comments.
  • Writing code and software programming
  • Debugging and testing
  • Contributing to improving team coding best practices and standards
  • Maintaining version control of code
  • Unit Testing
  • Exploring opportunities for use of new technologies and proposing potential improvements and additional services.
  • Dealing with queries, bugs or enhancements that arise from quality testing or user acceptance testing.
  • Administering and optimising web servers
  • Creating and/or maintaining issue logs to ensure all issues raised are resolved to the satisfaction of the stakeholders.
  • Providing support for existing solutions and handling technical enquiries from Binley’s Data Analysts
  • Working with internal clients to develop detailed project specifications and plans
  • Maintaining logs of time spent on specific projects.

 

Skills and Experience Required

 

Essential 

 

Expereince 

  • 2+ years’ experience of hands on web development with C#
  • Experience in design, build and testing of websites
  • Technical specification and user documentation

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of industry standards
  • Knowledge of development security standards
  • Knowledge of web development trends

Skills

  • C#
  • Skills and Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint is not essential but highly desirable.
  • jQuery
  • net forms
  • MVC
  • Use of source control systems preferably Git
  • Deploying and web.config transformations
  • Good communication skills
  • Bug fixing and issue resolution

Desirable

 

Qualification 

  • Computer Science/Software engineering Qualification or Degree

Experience

  • Experience working in/with the NHS or pharmaceutical industry

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of relational database design
  • Healthcare industry and the NHS
  • Knowledge of the Pharmaceutical industry
  • Understanding of ISO9001 and ISO27001

Skills

  • C# 7.0
  • Experience of using an ORM system e.g. Entity Framework or Dapper
  • Experience of VBA / Microsoft Access
  • Experience with SQL Server
  • Experience Unit Testing and Refactoring
  • Experience of UI design and UX principles.
