Main Purpose of Role

As head of project management you will lead a team of project managers using best practice PM disciplines to successfully deliver projects measured against profitability, time and quality KPI’s. You will be given the autonomy to shape the team and project processes to deliver best in class project management.

 

Projects are varied in size and nature, and both internal and external across the breadth of the Wilmington Healthcare portfolio of products and services. While projects are typically managed remotely from a single location, there will be the need from time to time to travel across Wilmington healthcare sites (Basildon, London, Nottingham) and client/supplier sites as and when required by the project.


The role requires someone who can work with a degree of autonomy and take on personal responsibility in a high pressured environment to ensure project success, leading by example when required. The successful candidate will have a naturally engaging personality, enabling them to work within a group of people and yet challenge and lead them to work effectively to a common goal. You will be required to work extensively with operational delivery and client services teams in order to successfully deliver projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Line Manager responsibility for the Project Management team
  • Maintaining good client and supplier relationship during the Project lifecycle. Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • To work under the guidance of the Operations Director
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently meeting time constraints and expectations.
  • Liaise with clients on project progress as required
  • Liaise with Account directors and project sponsors to keep them appraised on progress, risks and issues and ensure they are dealt with appropriately in a timely manner.
  • Maintain relevant project documentation, e.g. risks, issues, logs, status reports, project plans, change control etc.
  • Collate and report on agreed monthly KPI’s established to monitor the project portfolio (e.g. time and budget metrics)
  • Team management
  • Work planning and allocation appropriately implemented and documented
  • Staff appraisals and reviews
  • Staff issue management and escalation as appropriate
  • Team and staff development and training
  • Setting SMART objectives for team and monitoring achievement against objectives
  • Staff coaching and performance management
  • Regular team/1:1 meetings to enhance communication and ensure motivation of the team
  • Staff recruitment and retention
  • As part of the Operations Management team play an active role in monthly operational delivery meetings to help improve the operations functions and inform company strategy.
  • Ensure own personal and team work output is of a high quality and accuracy. Accuracy of data insight is essential to maintain the integrity of the business to its customers and stakeholders.

 

 

Skills and Experience Required

 Essential:

  • Recognised Project Management qualification – e.g. Prince 2, APMP
  • 5+ years hands on experience of managing complex projects.
  • Experience of liaising with clients
  • Experience of liaising with Account Directors
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies (Prince 2, APMP etc.) and best practice project management
  • Exceptional Problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and a high standard of written English and Grammar
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Commercial Awareness

Desirable:

  • Educated to degree level
  • Experience working in/with the NHS or pharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledge of Healthcare datasets e.g. HES, QOF
  • Knowledge of Healthcare industry and the NHS
  • Knowledge of the Pharmaceutical industry
  • Understanding of ISO9001 and ISO27001
  • Experience of project management tools
  • Experience of managing and leading teams including resource and work planning, pastoral care, staff development and training and performance management.
